Fed 1 D Russian Rangefinder Camera with 5cm f/3.5 lens

The Fed was in mass production from 1934 until 1990 in a Labour commune in  Kharkiv (Ukraine) The name "FED" is also the name of the factory that produced these in the Soviet. The factory takes it's name from Felix Edmundovich, founder the Cheka. The original factory manger was Anton Makarenko he was there from 1931 until 1934 when the factory fell under control of the NKVD, besides copying the Leica he had programs to teach indigent children. The factory was bombed by german forces in 1941 and ceased production before resuming again in 1946

This Fred 1 D with serial no.119130 would be from 1939-1940

This is a nice example of a wartime Russian Leica copy camera. Camera and lens are in excellent condition. Includes original leather case, also in excellent condition. Lens is clean and free of fungus or hazing. Camera operates well and fires at all shutter speeds. Shutter range is 1/20-1/500. I have not put any film thru this camera. It appears to have ben used rarely. Leather is in excellent condition.
